A running list of local restaurants that have reopened for the season

As Massachusetts entered Phase 4 on March 22, stadiums and arenas were allowed to reopen with a 12 percent capacity limit. At TD Garden, which has been closed to fans since the initial shutdown in March 2020, that means roughly 2,100 fans will fill the seats. For restaurants and bars in the area, it also means an influx of diners in a neighborhood that has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Having to go for a year without any fans at the Garden — without any events at the Garden — has honestly devastated us and the neighborhood,” said Thomas Holland, who owns A&B Kitchen + Bar — previously called A&B Burgers — on Causeway Street, as well as A&B Burgers in Beverly.

Holland sent his Boston restaurant into hibernation in late November, and used that time to revamp the menu and add seven new TVs. A&B Kitchen + Bar reopened on March 24 with a slew of new dishes, including Boston baked beans, chicken pot pies, meatloaf with house-made barbecue sauce, fish and chips, and an expanded salad menu, along with its extensive burger list.

With fans now allowed back at TD Garden, Holland hopes the neighborhood will see a gradual return to its pre-COVID state.

“It’s going to be a slow progression until the restrictions are lifted, no matter what,” he said. “We’re hoping that there will be a good amount of people coming, grabbing some food, having a couple drinks, and watching some games on TV even if they don’t have tickets.”
