We’re all eating a little differently these days: Cooking at home more. Ordering takeout. Dining on patios. Whatever your comfort level, here’s what’s been going on in Boston’s restaurant world recently, plus a few ways to enjoy some of our region’s best restaurants and bars from both the comfort of your own home and out in the world.
Here’s what you may have missed this week:
Gourmet Kreyòl food truck.
There’s a new food truck in the works: Haitian food truck Gourmet Kreyòl gets ready to hit the streets.
Top Shelf Cookies will open in Dorchester soon with a dozen daily flavors. “Once COVID-19 is over, once we remove our masks, once we’re vaccinated, I hope we remember the small businesses in our neighborhood,” said owner Heather Yunger.

Pavona by Pammy’s x Lamplighter Brewing Co.
We love a good collab, and the latest one from Pammy’s and Lamplighter Brewing Co. is a real thirst quencher. Lamplighter brewmaster Tyler Fitzpatrick and Pammy’s bar manager Rob Ficks teamed up to create the Pavona, an Italian-style Pilsner launching at both Cambridge businesses on Sunday. At Lamplighter, you’ll be able to pick up a special Pammy’s picnic-to-go at the retail counter, stocked with snacks like giardiniera, chicken liver pâté, and whipped cheeses. Over at Pammy’s, the beer will be sold on draft, and can be paired with items from the Pamily Sunday menu, a family-style spread. For each bottle of Pavona sold, $1 will be donated to the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center.
Eating and cooking alone, together:
While a flurry of community fridges have opened this past year, one of the first to debut — the Jamaica Plain community fridge — had to close in November after a car hit the fridge. Thankfully, it now has a second life. A few weeks ago, the rebuilt fridge was installed in its new home at 672 Centre St. outside of City Feed and Supply, this time with a built-in pantry section and shed to shield it from inclement weather. The rules still stand: Take what you need, leave what you can.
There’s another fried chicken spot in town, as Crave debuted an Allston location earlier this week (Crave also has a location in Chinatown). The menu features a customizable selection of chicken and sauces, from wings and drumsticks to spicy barbecue and “Furious” (extra spicy garlic) sauce. But there’s more to Crave than just chicken — diners can also find dishes like kimchi seafood pancakes, wonton mozzarella sticks, and roasted beef bone marrow. Call ahead for pickup, or place an order via Toast, Grubhub, Uber Eats, and Hungry Panda for delivery.
As vaccinations open up to all Massachusetts adults on Monday, here’s a quick reminder on how you can channel your first shot into free food and drink. At Pauli’s in the North End, diners who present their COVID-19 vaccination card can receive a free signature sandwich on Mondays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sam Adams will send $7 to the first 10,000 people who post a photo of their vaccination sticker or Band-Aid to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #shotforsam and the tag @samueladamsbeer. And if you’re anywhere near a Krispy Kreme, you’ll be able to receive a free glazed doughnut any time you show your card.
